Some guests have pointed out that the bar area can get crowded, especially during peak hours, leading to longer wait times for drinks. The limited parking on-site can be challenging during busy days, though free street parking is available nearby. Occasionally, the main dining area may be noisy, particularly when live music is on, which might not appeal to those looking for a quieter meal. A few diners have mentioned that reservations are advisable, as the pub can fill up quickly, leaving less room for impromptu visits. Overall, the complaints are minor compared to the love for the pub's atmosphere and food.
First time here today and I must say…. Best carvery I’ve had along with the friendliest team ever! Had a great afternoon , thank you to the guy calving, generous portions with 3 meats to choose from and the veg was perfectly cooked- everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there what a great atmosphere! Thank u. We will be back.
Regular drinking hole. Great selection of beers and massive beer garden meaning plenty of room to drink and enjoy the sunshine. Very family friendly pub. Only small wrinkle is the bar is quite small so often quite a big queue, but the staff are super fast at serving (and super friendly). Never eaten here, but there's always loads of people dining. Carpark quite small but ample off road parking nearby. Updated my review in August 25 having now eaten at the Queen Vic. Popped in for lunch on a Friday. Pub wasn't busy so no trouble getting a table. Menu offered plenty of choice, lots of pub classics and some lighter options as well. We were served quickly (helpful as teenage sons were starving) and food was delicious. Would happily eat here again. You can eat in the main pub or the restaurant building out back...that building serves the carvery.
Had a fabulous Sunday roast at the carvery yesterday. Food and service was excellent . Nothing was too much trouble and the garden was very pleasant to sit out in afterwards. Tigers bitter was perfect for my husband too. Would certainly recommend .
Super experience even though we had not booked. The pub was lovely with a restaurant extension (come in via the restaurant entrance to avoid the bar queue!) We sat indoors by the window and had a good view of the garden where there was a children's play area. we ordered the cod & chips, and a chicken & halloumi burger with fries. The food was piping hot, best burger I've had In a while from a pub .. The fish and chips were great, a special mention is deserving of the mushy peas which bought the great parts together. Totally worth the trip out..
What a gem. Worked in syston for 16 years did not know their food was so good. Had a very tasty carvery on a Wednesday lunchtime - would absolutely recommend. Staff were lovely. *****
Really nice place will definitely be back again proper friendly staff aswell love the outside seating
Our family had a Sunday lunch (carvery) which was great. Three choices of meat or you could have one big slice of each (beef, pork, turkey) as I did. Large choice of vegetables and sauces and some great desserts to follow. The staff are friendly and helpful, which is great when you have elderly people with you, as we did. A nice atmosphere for a family lunch or just to eat alone, as several older regulars were doing.
The Queen Victoria serves a variety of dishes. The carvery roast is a favorite, along with the Sweet Potato and Lentil Curry and the Chicken, Ham & Leek Pie. Don't miss the House Ale Batter Cod & Chips for a classic pub experience.
